Frequently Asked Questions
We schedule by appointment only. Sorry but we do not take walk-ins. Getting a tattoo is a life commitment and both client and artist need to be on the same page when it comes to the details of the artwork. This creative process takes time. We want to create a piece of art that speaks to both you and the ones who will admire it. To get started on your journey, please send a DM on Instagram to @Skeety_Johnson
Although Florida does permit tattoos to 16 year olds with parental consent, we only work on clients over the age of 18. Getting Tattooed with one of my art pieces is a lifetime commitment and deserves to be valued in that respect. Therefore, you must be at least 18 years of age to receive one of my artworks. Please bring a valid State or Federal Photo ID. No exceptions.
Come to the appointment well-fed and rested. Make sure you arrive at the agreed upon time too! Remember to stay hydrated. If you start to feel woozy, have a soda or a salty snack ready. Sugar and salt are your friends in this situation! Walking around in the Florida sun all day in the summer, without drinking any water and then coming to get tattooed on an empty stomach is a sure recipe for passing out. It’s also a good idea to use lotion on the skin up to 7 days before your appointment. I recommend Cerave ‘Rough & Bumpy skin’ which has a particular ingredient that will help keep your skin properly hydrated for the appointment. It’s best not to drink alcohol the night before because alcohol can increase bleeding for up to 24 hours. Blood also dilutes our pigments, affecting both the appearance of your tattoo as well as the healing process. Remember to stay calm and cool, you’re in good hands. There’s nothing to stress over—it’s just a tattoo! It’s a good idea to bring some headphones and your favorite songs/podcasts to zone out too. Tattoos can take a long time and while conversation is part of the process, I will need to spend a lot of time in (silent) concentration, so bring along something to stop yourself getting bored!
Yes! But in the best possible way. Your brain releases endorphins when you go through pain and your body loves endorphins, so yes, it hurts, but you’ll kinda like it.
It takes two weeks to “heal,” but it takes months for the skin to fully regenerate.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), No checks or American Express sorry.
After we’ve talked via phone, email or social media and you’re ready to take the next step, you’ll be obliged to pay a deposit to validate your commitment. Deposits are dependent on the type of tattoo, but are typically $600 +service fee/tax.
Tattoo aftercare is important. It’s imperative that you use high quality dressing like ‘tegaderm’ which can be purchased either through Amazon or directly from me. After the tattooing process, you will need to wear this special wrap for about 7days. To prevent it from breaking, you need to keep it cool so you don’t sweat it off (sorry, you’re gonna need to skip gym for a week too).
If the seal does break, don’t worry. Take the bandage off and then wash the skin area gently with dial gold soap (pump form not bar soap) repetitively and gently just washing away any bodily fluids and build-up. Then pat it gently or let it air dry. Don’t wipe it dry as the skin will still be soft due to the healing process and one aggressive wipe could pull out ink and damage the tattoo. After 7 days of tegaderm, you can remove the bandage and wash. Add thin coats of aquaphor, the thinner the better. You don’t want to cake the aquaphor on because it can slow down the healing process. Apply the aquaphor as needed whenever it feels too dry or stiff. Typically about 2/3 times a day.For more information click the link below.
